Since the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade last June, several states have implemented sweeping bans on abortion.
: A 2019 “trigger law” that imposed a near-total ban on abortions went into effect on Aug. 1, 2022. The law carves out narrow exceptions to save a pregnant woman’s life or to prevent disabling injury. In November, Kentucky voters rejected a ballot measure that would have denied abortion rights in the state’s constitution. However, the state's Supreme Court is currently weighing the constitutionality of the statewide ban.
