Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty teams up with Iron Man to take on new foes in a variant cover that's so goofy and true to his personality.
Marvel just unveiled an exclusive new variant cover that involves Iron Man and the Philadelphia Flyers' mascot, Gritty, teaming up for the very first time...and it's the goofiest variant cover yet. This Saturday, the Flyers and the Chicago Blackhawks are set play against each other. With the amount of people who love the Flyers' goofball mascot, it's sure to be filled with fans cheering in the stands.
Gritty has absolutely blown up in popularity since his debut as the new mascot for the Flyers in 2018. He currently has a huge following on Twitter and is famous for his hysterical antics online that have made him meme-worthy due to his being the antithesis of what constitutes a"family friendly mascot." Now, his fame is hitting the world of comics with a famous Avenger by his side, and it's absolutely hilarious.

It will only be available on Saturday, March 5th to attendees of the Flyers vs. Blackhawks game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This will make this variant cover both limited edition and potentially very rare after Saturday passes.
While Gritty himself won't actually appear within the pages of the comic since this is just a variant cover of Avengers #53, it will certainly make for a fun collector's item and perhaps cause whirlwind speculation on what Gritty would do if he joined the Marvel canon. Perhaps he could use his T-Shirt cannon to knock airborne supervillains out of the sky or channel his inner Deadpool to poke fun at different characters.
