Banbridge man Philip Doyle and double sculls partner Daire Lynch won bronze for Team Ireland at the Paris Games
Banbridge rower Philip Doyle had his Olympic bronze medal taken off him after it started to badly deteriorate following the Paris Games.
The former Banbridge Academy pupil and Queen's University student returned to a hero's welcome after his Olympic success, but he had to relinquish his bronze medal due to a "chronic issue" affecting its condition.Read more: Irish rider killed during Manx Grand Prix qualifying session On Ireland AM, Doyle highlighted the extent of the damage to his own medal, commenting, "Mine is gone, wrecked. It's nearly gone the next level, the next layer down."
