Policing Minister Christine Tell has maintained Saskatchewan won’t be replacing other policing services — but some groups are wondering.
As part of amendments to the Police Act, the province is also looking to give the minister more powers to intervene into municipal forces should they feel policing services aren’t adequate.
Randy Goulden, the president of the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association , said in a text message the organization hasn’t yet analyzed or determined a position on these changes. When asked why more funding couldn’t instead be provided to RCMP, Tell has said the government has made a number of investments into the Mounties.Article content
