Princess Diana’s niece wore Atelier Versace to the ceremony, which overlooked Stellenbosch’s picturesque wine country.
The cocktail hour that followed was set against a beautiful sunset, and guests mingled on the lawns and gardens of Quoin Rock overlooking Cape Town while sipping on champagne, negronis, and Aperol spritz and snacking on spaghetti aglio e olio, prepared live in front of them. “We knew the day would pass so quickly so we took as many moments, just the two of us, as we could,” Amelia recalls.
After cocktails, everyone took their seats inside the bespoke glass marquee festooned with swathes of white roses and twinkling lights for dinner, in what felt like a magical fairy garden. With dishes including rigatoni pomodoro, steak tagliata, linefish with roasted garlic and champagne velouté, and griddled aubergine tagliata, the menu was an Italian dream. After the main course was finished, glasses were raised as best man Doug Mallett and Greg said some heartfelt words.
The couple’s first dance was to Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash’s “Girl from the North Country,” followed by a live performance by Nathan Ambach. “He was absolutely brilliant at creating energy and an electric atmosphere for the entire wedding party,” Amelia says. “This energy continued throughout the night!”– and adorned with white roses and flavoured with salted caramel. In addition to that, espresso martinis and desserts of honeycomb gelato and red velvet cheesecake were circulating.
