13News reporter Emily Longnecker reports from Edinburgh where the Indiana National Guard is ready to deploy to Texas.
INDIANAPOLIS — Members of Indiana's National Guard are getting readyTheir families, along with Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb, celebrated them Thursday morning at a departure ceremony at Camp Atterbury.he intended to send Indiana National Guard troops down to Texas at the request of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, who asked for help with Operation Lone Star.Three hundred Indiana National Guardsmen and women said they were willing to go. Fifty were selected.
"I just can't say it enough, how appreciative we are. How much we value what you're doing," Holcomb told the troops gathered, along with their families. Members of Indiana's National Guard, like Estrada, won't have the power to arrest anyone crossing the border illegally.
