The family hoped to take their daughter to Rome for further treatment
The parents of a critically-ill Nottingham baby say they plan to appeal after losing another round of a life-support treatment fight. A High Court judge on Thursday, November 2, refused to allow Indi Gregory’s parents to move her to a hospital in Rome.
The family appealed the decision in the High Court, but were not successful. They then appealed to take their daughter to Rome, Italy, for further treatment, but it was reported on Thursday, November 2, that a judge had ruled against this.Mr Justice Peel ruled that doctors treating Indi Gregory in Nottingham could lawfully limit treatment. Whilst the family had asked to move her earlier this week to Rome.
NUH was prevented from removing Indi's life support expired when the judge released his ruling, but it has been extended until 2pm on Friday, November 3, The Christian Legal Centre added. “Even if the transfer to Italy involves some risk, the only alternative we have been offered in the UK is to go along with Indi’s death. There is nothing to lose for us or for Indi. The offer from Italy is the only offer of treatment that we have, and as Indi’s parents, we are prepared to take a risk to make that happen."
