Lawmakers are joining forces to save our independent refineries and the tens of thousands of jobs and businesses that depend on them.

PennLive Letters to the Editor

Manufacturers in Pennsylvania depend on an affordable and reliable energy supply to meet the needs of our vast and complex supply chains, distribution networks, and needs of consumers. Manufacturers rely on a stable supply of liquid fuels to meet customer demands, and that’s why many of our members work so closely with independent refineries in the Northeast.

Unfortunately independent refiners are in danger of closing for good under the current structure of the federal Renewable Fuel Standard . Many facilities have already closed due to the program’s soaring compliance costs. Those that remain are spending more on compliance credits, known as “RINs”, than on salaries, benefits, maintenance, and utility expenses combined. If you purchase a product or register for an account through one of the links on our site, we may receive compensation.
