CLEVELAND, Ohio – Tickets will go on sale noon Wednesday, Oct. 12, for the inaugural Cleveland Monsters Outdoor Classic hockey game at FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Cleveland Monsters and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will play Saturday, March 4. Faceoff is 1 p.m. between the American Hockey League teams. The Monsters are an affiliate of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets while Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s parent club is the Pittsburgh Penguins. The game is billed as the first outdoor professional hockey game in Cleveland. Outdoor hockey has gained popularity in the NHL, with the league holding the nationalized Winter Classic in a stadium near New Year’s Day for more than a dozen years.
