A recent event at Oakland’s Allen Temple Baptist Church provided free vision exams and prescription glasses for low-income people in need.

The Piedmont City Council was to move forward with actions regarding the Moraga Canyon Specific Plan at its at the regular meeting this week. The plan is a centerpiece of the Sixth Cycle Housing Element to create 132 units of new housing, 60 of which would be reserved for lower-income households.

“Block Booking” provides a full year of traditional, full afternoon care, and “Flexi-Care” is an opportunity to register in hourly increments and pay only for the care needed. Schedules can be adjusted monthly, depending on space. Contributions to Lantern Projects are tax-deductible and are spent completely on the organization’s small humanitarian aid projects. The nonprofit requests funding for specific needs, and all donations are delivered directly to known contacts. Below is the July and August wish list.

Wish #476: Rabbits, rabbit cages, food and veterinary products in the DRC . In one village in North Kivu, DRC, poverty is widespread, and households that include senior adults that also have a young person experienced in raising rabbits benefit from breeding and selling rabbits.
