An event highlighting "important" stories behind the history of Nottingham's Broad Marsh will be one of the first events to take place at the city's new Central Library. It was confirmed that the £10.5 million facility will open its doors to the public on November 28.
It has now been confirmed that the first of these events will centre on the history of Nottingham's Broad Marsh. Nigel Hawkins, the Head of Culture and Libraries at Nottingham City Council, said: "We've got local studies based here, that's a really important set of resources and facilities because people do need to know about their place. That's an excellent way to come in and find out more about Nottingham and the area.
With the centre having closed in 2020, work continues to regenerate the Broad Marsh area, with work having already starting on the 'Green Heart' element. The eastern half of the former shopping centre still needs to be demolished, with Nottingham having been rejected twice by the Government's Levelling Up Fund for this work.
