‘According to the NEU, 44 per cent of England’s state-school teachers plan to quit by 2027’

And with ministers finally ditching their previously bizarre edict on not discussing pay, some can see the faint light at the end of this long tunnel of winter strikes. Stoppages will still go ahead for now, but more talks offer hope for some kind of negotiated outcome. There is however a danger that this is just the calm before a bigger storm, as a week today we’ll find out whether Britain’s biggest schools union, the NEU , has cleared the legal hurdles for its own national strike.
