The popular pub chain offers a special deal on a curry and a drink every Thursday....but is it worth it?
On a rainy Thursday afternoon in the city centre, the wind is sweeping and the umbrellas are out in full force as people shuffle through the streets. It’s the kind of day where the idea of a warming curry sounds incredibly enticing.
READ MORE: We tried the Japanese soul food spot bringing the freshest noodles to a city centre back alley Earlier this year, Wetherspoons announced it would be increasing its prices by 7.5 per cent at all of its pubs across the UK and Ireland - which seems to have resulted in a bunch of jarring prices on its menu. For example, there’s burgers for £8.62 and steak for £10.42.
When the order comes, after about 10 minutes of ordering, it actually looks quite good. The curry comes in its own little dish, whilst two huge and all-encompassing poppadoms appear to hide everything else underneath. I’ll come to wish half of these things remained hidden. The biggest let-down, however, comes in the form of the naan. I’m a big fan of naan bread - In my opinion, it is the perfect curry companion when it comes to dipping and scooping. But after my first bite, I don’t really want anything to do with this naan.
