Stuart Gee from Morecambe was in Thailand when he had a stroke and his family has been forced to pay thousands of pounds in hospital fees
A distraught daughter has spoken of her desperation to get her dad home after he suffered a massive stroke in Thailand.
He flew out to Thailand last October and was due to return in February when disaster struck. Around three weeks ago he was on FaceTime to Keri when he suffered a stroke.Since then Keri told LancsLive she has been forced to find thousands of pounds to pay for healthcare. As Stuart was due to receive his retirement visa, which would give him access to free healthcare, he hadn't bought any insurance cover as he assumed the visa would arrive straightaway.
"After the first two days it's ranged from £50 to £200 a day. The stroke was that bad he couldn't speak or eat for the first few days. Now he's got some movement back in one arm and he can talk albeit very slowly." "I just want to get him home. I've been getting advice from friends who work in the stroke clinic about what kind of physio he should be doing but it's really difficult because he gets exhausted so easily and his partner doesn't speak English.
