A Chinese takeaway in Old Trafford has gone viral after its huge £20.50 share box was called ‘absolutely outrageous’ by customers.
While the box is certainly good value for money, diners also described it as ‘spot on’ and ‘delicious’ but there was only one way to find out whether it was really just as tasty as it is claimed to be - and that was by trying it out for ourselves. As I arrived at the takeaway ten minutes later, there were two other people picking up their boxes of food and others waiting for theirs to be ready. You could also see the chefs in the kitchen freshly preparing the dishes as you waited.
Not even able to wait to plate it up with my friend, I quickly nabbed a chip and it was perfectly crispy with a just right balance of salt and pepper that wasn’t too overwhelmingly feisty. The noodles, which were given to me as a substitute for the prawn toast, were also initially a bit too dry for me, but with the curry sauce - which was a bit spicier than I had anticipated - they went down a treat. Ultimately, the salt and pepper chicken and the crispy chilli chicken were my two personal highlights - they had a kick to them that wasn’t overwhelming, and they were full of flavour and tasted fresh.
