Every day there's a new TikTok life hack that might transform your life. This one will not revolutionise your world - but it will make it smell a little bit better
The toilet paper in my house can usually be found in two places. The cupboard where stuff is dumped at the top of the stairs and - rather unsurprisingly - next to a toilet.
A viral TikTok hack suggests bunging a roll of toilet roll in your fridge can actually reduce odours by absorbing moisture from the air, reducing the chance of mould, mildew and other nasties appearing next to your cheese. As a father of two with a fridge that is rammed full of stuff reasonably often, unpleasant fridge smells are not unusual.
Apparently, baking soda does the same thing but I have no idea where that is, so the toilet paper went in. The first advice I can offer, which my wife pointed out as I reached for the fridge door, toilet roll in hand, is that ideally you want unscented paper. For the next week I waited, glancing at the toilet roll next to the cooked meats every time I made a coffee. Would the smells go? Would my wife throw it in the bin? Would one of my kids grab it when the downstairs toilet ran low?
