On the road with a true inspiration, we saw just how much he means to vulnerable residents ❤️

The constant ringing of blaring phones seems harsh to visitors but for the team at DEPHER, it's just another day in the office.

The organisation relies heavily on public donations to cover all labour and materials, and to provide free services for people in need. But last month, James announced his work was put on hold after his donated funds dried out. After a brief shake of hands James was up and out the doors with a seemingly never-ending list of jobs to complete. his phone went off. And didn't stop.

"That's where we come in but we can only support people by giving them the extra support for the electric, gas and the food." It's not just elderly people who have been saved by James in their hour of need. An Accrington dad of two young children told how he had to sell his wedding ring to pay for food and gas after being left in nearly £400 of energy bill debt.

It wasn't until the evening when her carers came in to check in on her when they sniffed the gas and called for help. Lorraine says it was then up to her to source a reputable plumber to fix the pipes on the hob but getting someone to come out for a job as small as a cooker hob had her worried she'd run the risk of being ripped off.

He was called out to visit an elderly man, living close to Burnley's Turf Moor, who's boiler was apparently in need of repair. James called-out to the property to give a second opinion as the elderly man had been quoted £5,500 for a new boiler which he could not afford. She asked James and his team whether they could help, otherwise she would "do her best" to get food on the table for her family. As a result, Depher sent a food delivery for the family from supermarket Asda, for the following day.

Meanwhile, James continued tinkering away at the hob which he said he wouldn't charge the family for the trouble. When asked how he felt knowing he could help Domenica, he said he feels as if he achieved what he set out to do at the start of DEPHER.
