'I'm torn between two men and I'm not sure who to choose'
I have found myself, aged 31, in a love triangle. I fell for one of the men, Alex, in my teens. I was, and still am, keen, but this hasn’t always been reciprocal. The other man, David, who’s lovely and kind, has been my boyfriend, on and off, for five years. Off, because every time I see or get in touch with Alex, I split up with David.A year or so ago, Alex moved to Hong Kong, but when he came back for a wedding, we spent the weekend together.
Feelings are important. We should take them into consideration when making decisions, but they shouldn’t have the last word when it comes to choosing our direction. They should be your advisors, rather than your boss.When we’re young and our sexuality is awakening, we are not unlike a young gosling, who falls for the first object it sees after cracking open its egg.
You ask which one is the right man. In fact, the right choice is the choice to which you commit. It seems that switching from one to the other isn’t working for you, so you could commit to the highs and lows of Alex or to the steady affection of David, or to neither.
