This particular meeting was designed to prepare mental health and other health care workers on what to expect. Many of my clients have been navigating job loss for the first time, including the unemployment system, independent insurance and business loans. Giving up my lease felt like a small sacrifice compared with what others were coping with. My shift to telehealth was easy, and I was relieved to have a nice group of clients who continued to reach out for appointments. I counted my blessings and moved into the new world of COVID-19 with a sense of optimism.
Our society is always on the go, and for the first time in a long time, we are alone with our thoughts and some pretty difficult memories.
