Bohm said postgame that he doesn't actually hate Philadelphia and was simply frustrated after making three errors in the first three innings of the game against the Mets.
Alec Bohm, in this file photo, had a rough night Monday for the Phillies. TNSAlec Bohm helped spark a rally Monday that lifted the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-4 win over the New York Mets.
Still, it’s probably a night the third baseman would just assume forget because he turned in three errors in the game’s first three innings, and when the Philly fans let him hear about it, well, Bohm said postgame emotions just got the best of him. “I hat this place,” cameras caught him saying after the crowd gave him an ovation for finally making a play in the field. To his credit, Bohm didn’t even deny postgame what folks saw. Instead, he said, he was emotional in that moment,“I said it,” he said. “Do I mean it? No. It’s a frustrating night for me, obviously. Look, these people, these fans, they just want to win. You heard it. We come back, they’re great. I’m just sorry to them.
Bohm has been in a battle with Bryson Stott for the starting third base spot. Girardi said Bohm got the start Monday because he has fared well against Mets starter Taijuan Walker in the past. And, he reportedly said, both players will continue to get playing time. Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
