'Hysterical' new karaoke TikTok trend millions are trying Curiously
The trend involves one person singing along to the karaoke version of a song, meaning just the music without any lyrics. Meanwhile, their pal is recording them while sat behind a laptop showing the correct words, with the bar moving across them as it would if you were doing karaoke.
The results are hilarious, as people discover how few of the words to their favourite songs they actually know. Many of the videos have gone viral, and hashtag karaoke currently has 10 billion views on the app.One video by @hayleydestin, with a compilation her and her friends trying different songs, has amassed more than 75,000 views. They attempt everything from Roar by Katy Perry to I Like It by Cardi B, with hilarious results.
But it doesn't end there, another TikTokker Tory took the challenge one step further with a friend, not even knowing what song was playing when the music kicked in. The pair took on a variety of musical tunes in a video that now has more than one million views. Similarly, people in the comments section were in hysterics, with one person commenting: "I literally could not stop watching this! hysterical" and another saying: "I LOVE THIS SO MUCH".
Many picked up on a specific point in the video, where Tory added text over the top of her singing to say: "the power of Sutton [Foster] overcame her". One user commented: "Sutton possessed Tory fr" and another said: "Watching the Sutton Foster possession was incredible".
