Society may be getting a step closer to the future the 'The Jetsons' promised with flying commuter vehicles, as Ohio announced hundreds of flying taxis will be built.
Joby Aviation's pre-production prototype aircraft in flight above the company's facilities in Marina, Calif. in 2022. An agreement announced on Sept. 18, 2023, between the state and Joby Aviation Inc. will bring air taxi production to a 140-acre site at Dayton International Airport by 2025.
The electric air taxi will be intended to carry a pilot and four passengers, and reach speeds of up to 200 mph over a range of 100 miles, officials said.
