SNP leader calls emergency meeting to ditch agreement after pressure from his own MPs and MSPs
Scotland’s First Minister has come under huge pressure from MP and MSPs in his own party to halt the deal after a series of controversies over policies pushed by the Greens.
Other high-profile figures in the SNP, such as former leadership candidate Kate Forbes and party stalwart Fergus Ewing, had previously called for the deal to be ended.The Scottish Greens’ co-leaders Patrick Harvie and Loran Slater have also come under internal pressure to end the deal in recent days.
But the long delay in responding to Dr Hilary Cass’s review of gender services in England – and the Greens support for the use of puberty blockers – caused frustration among some inside the SNP.
