Houston police officers form department's first lion dance team in time for Lunar New Year
"The National Asian Peace Officer Association had its conference here in August of last year. They had a dinner banquet, and there was a lion dance," Lui recalled."San Francisco PD was sitting next to Chief Ban Tien and they were like, 'Hey, we have our own lion dance team.'"
Chan was born in Hong Kong and lived near a lion dancing shop. He walked past it every day. Once, his grandfather bought him a tiny lion head and set of drums.
