The commercial property developer believes the success of many of our cities hangs in the balance AD
When it is completed in 2030, Mayfield in Manchester will be one of the greenest development schemes in the UK and will contribute significantly to the city’s ambition to be net zero.
Meanwhile the company also has big plans for Media City - Europe’s leading, digital, media and tech hub in Manchester - with additional leisure and retail space, as well as a focus on green space to support the health and wellbeing of future occupiers and for the public to enjoy. Mark Allan, Landsec CEO, said: “We are at a crossroads when it comes to the future of our cities. For the good of our nation’s competitiveness and the opportunities it will provide our communities, we need to focus on the future of our cities today.
Speaking about the Mayfield scheme Deborah Freeman-Watt, head of regional development at Landsec said: "Mayfield is a transformational project, reviving an underused industrial space into a world class urban neighbourhood, providing people with access to green spaces in the heart of the city centre.
It needs everyone, from developers, advisory partners, local authorities, city mayors, national governments and the broader community to work together.
