The eclipse will be maximized across a 130-mile-wide swath of the country stretching from Oregon to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas. In that swath, 90% of the sun obscured. A map showing how much of the sun will be obscured during the annular solar eclipse on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. The maximum coverage of the sun, 90%, will be seen in a band from Oregon to Texas, while other parts of the country having less of the sun covered, down to about 10-20% in the Boston area and New England.The entire eclipse – from the moment the moon starts to obscure the sun until it’s back to normal – will last roughly two-and-a-half hours at any given spot.
