A general election has been officially announced, meaning people all over the UK will be called to cast their vote this July 4.
With the sudden news and the election date falling in the middle of the school holiday season, this may leave many unable to physically turn up to the polls. Luckily, Scots who can't make it to the voting centre can still have their say through casting a postal vote and getting one couldn't be easier.
You must be eligible and registered to vote to receive a postal vote. According to the Electoral Commission, those who want to vote in the general election must be registered to do so by this June 18 - you can register to vote online here. Here are the simple steps to take to get a postal vote in Scotland ahead of the next general election.
