San Francisco just recorded the third-wettest 15-day period since the Gold Rush in 1849.
at about 2 a.m. Tuesday as a frontal band barreled across the city and the greater Bay Area. Rivers of rain gushed down roadways in the torrential downpour as winds kicked up.
As of 8:30 a.m., the National Weather Service's gauge has recorded 1.84 inches since Sunday, forecaster Ryan Walbrun said. This is far less than what San Francisco recorded in the historic New Year's Eve storm that stalled over the city and droppedmarking the second-rainiest day in the city with records going back to 1849.
