The Met Office has issued a rare warning for extreme heat for parts of England including Greater Manchester early next week.
Many regions will see temperatures rise well into the mid to late 30s - with forecasters predicting that some regions may see temperatures that break the current heat record of 38.7C
The red warning warns that the weather could lead to serious illness or danger to life, there's a risk of failure of heat-sensitive systems and equipment such as water or mobile phone services and there could be delays on roads and cancellations to rail and air travel.Grahame Madge, Met Office spokesman, said: “We’ve just issued a red warning for extreme heat for Monday and Tuesday which is the first such warning ever issued.
