Authorities have confirmed that a couple who were killed last weekend in a double...

were a husband and wife who had worked for decades in Houston public schools.

William Henry Burger, 56, a middle school assistant principal, and Noreen Burger, 58, a retired educator, died around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office.and the man on Friday, verifying previously unconfirmed reports of their deaths that had begun circulating earlier in the week.

Court records show Burger remains in jail with bond set at $500,000. His next court hearing is scheduled for March 21. A defense attorney representing Burger declined to comment, saying it was too early in the case. Noreen Burger worked for Spring Branch ISD for 25 years, according to the district. She retired in 2020 but continued working as a substitute.

William “Bill” Burger worked for the same district for three decades, serving as an assistant principal for the past 11 years at Cornerstone Academy.
