'Game of Thrones' prequel series from two N.J. creators becomes most-watched HBO premiere.
, drew 9.986 million viewers in the United States from both linear and HBO Max platforms Sunday night, making it the largest series premiere in HBO history, the cable network announced Monday.
Inside ‘House of the Dragon’ with George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal, N.J. creators of ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” series of books introduced the world of Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms, providing the source material for HBO’s Emmy-winning series “Game of Thrones.” The popular show ran for eight seasons before ending in 2019.
Martin acknowledged that a part of that audience, disappointed by the final season, may not return for the new series. But HBO Max has seen a jump in viewership for “GOT” in the run-up to “House of the Dragon.” Milly Alcock as young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Emma D'Arcy plays the older version of the character in "House of the Dragon."
