'Are we living in the People's Republic of China, Russia or indeed the Totalitarian Borough of Blackpool?' asks Brendan O'Rourke
A hotel owner handed a council warning letter amid a row over dog poo has compared the seaside town to 'the People's Republic of China'. Brendan O'Rourke runs Sunny Dee's Holiday Apartments on the Promenade.
READ MORE: Police decided to stop man and woman on M62 after becoming suspicious - it was a good call Brendan told LancsLive: "It absolutely infuriated me because I don't. I collect plastic off the beach, I've worked with the previous 'Love My Beach' organisation that was in Blackpool. I even picked up three lots of poo that was on the beach last night because it irritates me as the tide was coming in."
While successfully appealing the warning, Brendan was contacted by the Manifesto Club, an organisation 'at the forefront of challenging the hyper-regulation of public spaces'. They say this example was the first they had seen of a successful revoking, something Brendan wants to change.
