Penn Entertainment recently completed purchase of the sportsbook brand and has many new promotional ideas in the works
Mike Mueller, regional vice-president of gaming for the three Hollywood Casino facilities in Grantville, York and Morgantown, said a key strategy is helping people entering the sportsbook to understand how to bet and make it easy to place wagers.
Collins noted that many people hear Barstool is a sportsbook and initially hesitate to patronize the location, unaware of its food and entertainment offerings. One hurdle, Collins said, is that Barstool in Grantville currently operates on a Thursday through Sunday schedule. Meanwhile, the slot floor has returned to a 24/7 operation following the pandemic and table games are offered from 10 a.m. to 4 a.m.
However, bar-top video poker machines are currently not permitted in the sportsbook, as per Pennsylvania Gaming Commission rules, and there are no plans to add them at this time, Mueller said. GM Frabbiele declined to comment about poker’s possible return, but regional VP Mueller said the company still has an affinity for offering the game.
