Memorial's Lorenzo Delgado flies towards the end zone for the first of his two fourth quarter touchdowns Friday night with 5:55 remaining.Even for a football series that was averaging 55.7 points per game for the opening 18 meetings, Friday night's final score was extraordinary.

It was the highest-scoring football game in the 19-year history of Memorial's program, breaking the old record of 100 points in a 2018 game. For South Houston, it tied the school record of 103 points that was set in 1964 when the Trojans played Aldine. "We felt like we didn't play our best the first half. We shot ourselves in the foot. Made a couple of blunders out there. We felt 12 of those points on the board our kids were the result of our mistakes. So we went into halftime and our kids refocused and did a great job of turning the page. Our kids picked each other up and were able to go on that little run. It really helped us to get that little cushion. The defense came up with some big stops when we needed them.

"I knew what was at stake. I knew we needed that catch. I just went up and did what I needed to do," said Munoz, who scored Memorial's second TD with a 15-yard catch. Just from the second quarter on, Munoz collected 111 receiving yards. Crocker said they kind of tweaked things at the last moment and all Stallings had to do was throw a ball right on the money.

South Houston would stay on Memorial's heels with two Kam'ron Webb touchdown passes to Jacob Sheppard, one for 23 and the other for 50 as well as an Ivan Calixto run of seven yards, but Memorial responded with an attack that was nearly all on the ground until Munoz's reception.
