'Fallout 76' player Vending Machines and Display Cases have been disabled for the next few days. Here's why.

players may have noticed a"player vending is currently disabled" message popping up in their games over the past few hours, and the bug appears to be intentional if reports from the game's official forums are any indication. Due to a recently discovered glitch in the new Wastelanders update, both Vending Machines and Display Cases have been disabled.

'Fallout 76' Vending Machines and Display Cases have been disabled due to duping. A fix is expected around April 20. 'Fallout 76' is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC."We've found that the dupe exploit affects Player Vending Machines as well as Display Cases. As a result, we are temporarily disabling Vending Machines in addition to Display Cases while we work on a fix.Other players cannot purchase any items you already had listed for sale.

The post goes on to say a fix for the problem is in the works, but it may be a few days before it's actually available. The current release projection for the fix is April 20. Even though Bethesda refuses to detail the specifics of the situation in its official documentation, we'll fill in the gaps for you. Shortly after theWastelanders update released on Tuesday, players discovered a series of duplication glitches that essentially exploit the same flaw. It was possible to place a Vending Machine or Display Case, assign a desirable item to the container, leave a server and then return to find that the item in said container had doubled.

With this in mind, Bethesda has disabled use of both Vending Machines and Display Cases in an effort to preserve the balance of the game. Dupe glitches have been an ongoing problem forsince the game's launch, and this is just the latest effort to stamp out the illicit act for good. Alongside the fix, dupe users are likely to find their extra items have been removed, and, in severe cases, accounts may even be suspended.
