Meg ended up here. I don’t remember how. Oh, and this is the set that they famously burned down when Meg went missing.
Gordon was one of the doyennes of daytime TV, and her firing was a major news story. “I was 18 and in my first year at university,” Davies remembers. “I was at Oxford, supposed to be reading Thomas Hardy and Wordsworth, but I spent all my time scouring the tabloid newspapers to find out what had happened to Meg.”
“She’s such a sensational woman,” Bonham Carter says of Gordon. “The night she was sacked she went onand she performed with such gumption, fierceness and a lack of apology. I think we could all do with a bit of that. She legitimises my bossy side.”
