A 15-year-old Woodlawn High student is in critical condition after being shot while playing video games with friends. His mother believes a neighbor was the target when someone opened fire on the apartment building where the family lives.

He is currently in the Critical Care Unit at Children’s of Alabama. He is heavily sedated and on a breathing machine.The bullet remains lodged. Leonard said it traveled from the right side of his face to the left side and is near his brain. She does not yet know a full prognosis but said he will at minimum be blind in his right eye.
Birmingham police have two suspects in custody. Their names have not been released pending formal charges.
