Hawks Have 'Green Light' From Ownership To Trade Anyone, Even Trae Young - RealGM Wiretap
The front office of the Atlanta Hawks has"the green light from ownership to do whatever it wants to with the roster, which includes considering trade opportunities involving All-Star point guard Trae Young,"Travis Schlenk exited the front office in December and the decision-makers are now Landry Fields, Kyle Korver and Quin Snyder. While negotiating his contract to become head coach of the Hawks, Snyder demanded and now wields substantial influence over personnel decisions.
Young is on Year 1 of a five-year, $215 million contract extension he signed during the 2021 offseason. While Young is a talented on-ball player and would raise the floor on offense of any team in the league, he drifts off-ball and is also one of the NBA's biggest liabilities on defense. The more likely scenario than a Young trade this offseason is that the Hawks retool around him and Dejounte Murray.
