It’s no surprise that Harvey Weinstein’s request was denied
’s upcoming rape trial will take place in Manhattan, despite the urging of his legal team. On Thursday, a New York state appeals court denied Weinstein’s motion to move the trial to a different location, ruling that it must stay in the city, according to theWeinstein’s legal team was seeking to move the trial outside of the city, suggesting Albany County or Long Island’s Suffolk County,notes.
He also argued that a New York City jury would be unable to fairly assess the case. In court papers, Assistant District Attorneyassured that jurors would be fairly, thoroughly screened. “The fact is that New York County, with its rich base of jurors from vastly varied backgrounds, provides one of the best opportunities in New York State to ensure a pool of impartial jurors,” she wrote.
