Harris County live updates: Police line courtroom ahead of possible budget vote on police funding
Law enforcement officers with Harris County constables offices lined the hallways and courtroom as Harris County Commissioners Court was set to start on Tuesday morning. For over a month, members of the court have been fighting over the county's proposed tax rate and budget for fiscal year 2023.
the meeting was set to start at 11am. so far, no members of the five person court are in their seats.The meeting is scheduled to go on now that Hidalgo has appeared.
“I am disappointed that some of my colleagues on Commissioners Court have again refused to negotiate their historic tax increase proposal in good faith. Instead of responding to my proposal or scheduling a discussion-only meeting of Commissioners Court to break the impasse and do what’s right for taxpayers, the majority has again scheduled a meeting to ram through their “solution,” which is literally the only one they’ve posted on the agenda.
