Harris County may use $750M in Harvey funds to plug shortfall in 2018 flood bond projects
to address the funding gap. The county budget office estimated that if no other federal or state aid comes through, the trust would be able to make up bond project shortfalls until about 2026.Now, county officials could spend part of the $750 million allotment to close what remains of that funding gap.
Of the 181 projects in the bond program, around 25 have been completed, according to the flood control district. Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey expressed some interest in using the GLO money to address the gap at the Jan. 31 meeting.However, the county should consider multiple options for approaching the funding gap, he added.
