The Halloween saga has left a bunch of plot holes, but one theory solves a Halloween II plot hole and justifies a controversial storyline.

The Halloween franchise has branched out so much that it has made way for different plot holes, but one theory finally solves a decades-old mystery about Michael Myers that emerged in Halloween II. The success of John Carpenter’s 1978 slasher movie Halloween made way for a franchise that has been retconned on different occasions, making way for various timelines, each with a different explanation of what drove Michael Myers to kill.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Michael Myers’ story began in 1963, when at the age of six, he killed his older sister, Judith, on Halloween night. Michael was sent to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and became the patient of Dr. Samuel Loomis , who could only conclude that Michael was the embodiment of evil.

As mentioned above, Michael Myers was sent to Smith’s Grove Sanitarium when he was six years old, and he never spoke again after killing his sister. The drawing he made when he broke into the school shows that he didn’t fully develop and he’s still a child , so he might have not been into reading books, and it’s highly unlikely that Smith’s Grove would have had books about the Celtic festival of Samhain and how it connects to Halloween.

The Fire In Halloween II Was Part Of A Samhain Ritual The author of the theory mentions a separate one found in the Official Halloween Message Board that further explains Michael Myers’ possible connection to Samhain and Halloween.

How This Theory Justifies Halloween's Controversial Cult of Thorn Storyline This theory not only explains why Michael Myers knew about Samhain even though he spent over a decade at Smith’s Grove with no access to information about this specific festival, but it also justifies one of the Halloween saga’s most controversial storylines: the Cult of Thorn.
