The rumours about the Front Street branch started circulating in a Facebook community group
A bank has denied rumours it is planning to close one of its Nottinghamshire branches following social media reports. Facebook users started circulating rumours on Wednesday, March 6, that Arnold's Halifax branch, located on Front Street, would close.
The bank has now quashed the rumours in a statement. A Halifax spokesperson said: "We have not made an announcement to close the Arnold branch. "Whenever we do make the decision to close a branch, our colleagues and customers will be the first to know." This comes as the town's Lloyds branch announced in January that it will close for one day per week, every Thursday, to 'help customers in other parts of the business'.This is part of trials into new ways of working and is affecting a number of branches across the country. The trials will last 12 weeks and started on January 29.
HSBC permanently closed its doors on Front Street back in May 2023, while Santander and Barclays also left Arnold's high street in 2021 and 2018, respectively. A NatWest branch is also located on Front Street.
