After the Magpies grinded out a 1-0 win, Howe admitted his midfielder had seemed ‘distressed’ and he was concerned about the extent of his injury.Now, though, Guimaraes is set to only be out for at least a week – or weeks – not months, as perHowever it does mean the Brazilian could miss Newcastle’s highly anticipated Carabao Cup semi-final ties against Southampton.
Howe will need to do some reshuffling of his side to accommodate to losing his star in the middle of the park for at least the Crystal Palace game on Saturday, with Joelinton currently operating at left wing.
