Maybe Bibee can help the Guardians to turn around what has been a rough couple of weeks for the team.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Guardians No. 5 prospect Tanner Bibee will start Wednesday against the Rockies after the club promoted the 24-year-old righty. In a corresponding move, Cleveland designated lefty Konnor Pilkington for assignment.
Cleveland needed a starter after injuries and bad weather wreaked havoc on manager Terry Francona’s rotation over the past two weeks. Bibee, graded the No. 5 prospect in the Guardians farm system by MLB Pipeline, was 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA in three starts at Triple-A Columbus with 19 strikeouts and eight walks in 15 1/3 innings for the Clippers.
