An electric vehicle charging station at a West Lancashire village shop could reduce car parking spaces, harm the area's appearance and impact on a neighbour's house, it is claimed.
Supporters of the Instavolt application say the charging station will help enhance the village's commercial viability. And borough planning officers are recommending approval. The planning report to councillors states: "There are two areas of car parking – immediately in front of the Co-op store and along the side or rear.
"In the initial building of the Co-op, we specified we wished to keep the fencing bordering the cottage at the original height prior to the build. We were very happy when this was honoured - 6ft at the rear lowering to 3 ft at the Cottage windows, giving us ample light, security and a view of the village. The fence is our property.
Ms Oliver adds: "Further equipment at proposed site, which is very ambiguous in the document, would completely block our side cottage windows. We would have no light through to our main lounge. No light, no security. We would be unable to see anything but Instavolt equipment from our windows and driveway, complete with signs for 'beware', 'danger of death'. Need I say more?
