Viewers were shown exactly what it is like to be bitten by a bed bug last night as Channel 5 aired a documentary all about the critters recent 'invasion'. Titled The Big Bed Bug Invasion, the first episode of the series focused on the extend France is being affected by its recent outbreak and how the tiny insects could soon cause just as much chaos in Britain.
Viewers watched as the critter "got herself into position" on the expert's forearm before "going in for the kill". As James' skin is punctured by the bed bug's mouth, he admits he "can't feel a thing at all". After a "couple of minutes", viewers then see James' skin turn red. Zooming into the creature itself, it soon swells up and changes colour from a brown to a pale yellow, with a bright red centre. This centre, which looks "like a red sausage", is full of James' blood.
