And now, more from Greta Gerwig.At what point did this become a dream that you wanted to make, you wanted to adapt?Well in a funny way, I’ve had this movie in my head since I was about seven, but I had no concept that my life would go in a direction that would allow me to make it into a real movie. But as a more active idea.
And the second thing was just how the story of Louisa May Alcott, how amazing she was. I realized while I was researching it that Jo March had been this heroine of my youth. And then as I’m doing my due diligence that Louisa May Alcott became the heroine of my adulthood. What she did, that she wrote all this down. She made the lives of girls and women a best-seller. And that was extraordinary.
There’s this quote I found of hers, I was so interested. I am more than half persuaded that I am a man’s soul put by some freak of nature into a woman’s body because I have fallen in love with so many pretty girls and never once the least bit with any man. What did you think when you read that? Do you believe in kind of connecting with people from beyond? Where there any weird experiences where you felt like Louisa was on set?
