Kathleen Woodhouse (pictured), 64, had been given a 'new lease of life' after receiving a liver transplant six weeks before the accident.
A great-grandmother died from respiratory failure after inhaling dust from an airbag that exploded in a crash, an inquest heard.
She died aged 64 last year and a coroner Christopher Leach has now recorded a narrative verdict, saying: 'Mrs Woodhouse was involved in a serious road traffic accident following which her car airbag inflated and ruptured, causing her to inhale a fine dust. Recalling the aftermath, Mr Woodhouse said: 'The dust was a fine grey/white powder. She was absolutely covered in it. She was coughing a little at the time.' 'It seems that chemical pneumonitis, caused by sodium in the airbag, is the most likely cause of her difficulties.'Retired dinner lady Mrs Woodhouse, who was wheelchair-bound and on oxygen for the last three years of her life, was admitted to hospital twice in a month just before her death and returned on April 6, before passing away two days later.
Mr Woodhouse, who had been married to his wife 45 years when she died, added: 'As soon as we get the death certificate then I'll be speaking to someone about it .'
