Schools in Grand Prairie will have additional police this week in response to theDistrict spokesman Sam Buchmeyer said the increased police presence on the last two days of school is only a precaution.
“We want to assure our parents and staff that we are doing everything we can to keep our students and staff safe,” Buchmeyer said. “That includes working with our local law enforcement.” Police will patrol all elementary, middle and high school campuses, according to a letter the district sent to parents. In addition, every campus will have counselors and social workers available to support children.
“Our hearts are with the families and community of Uvalde, Texas,” the letter reads. “Thank you for your support as we work together to keep all of our students and staff safe.”.
